An editorial on televised dubs has been posted over at my new essay community societyofsoap, and it heavily references to the Naruto dub. Click on the above link if you're interested in reading. Thanks!

Since we had AOL chatroom convo with Maile before, how about Yuri Lowenthal?

Does Yuri have an AIM account?

10:10 pm - Opening Song

painted_apathy
Does anybody actually know what the name of the Naruto opening song is? I don't understand a word of it except "huwha" and I'm sure that's not even close to being a word, but I'd love to find the lyrics.

current mood: confused

12:41 am - Yuri Lowenthal and Dave Wittenberg to be at Youmacon 2005

nikolai
Hey there! I'm on the staff of Youmacon, a new anime convention this November in Detroit, Michigan, and I figured the rest of you Narutards (especially those around Michigan and northwest Ohio) might be interested in knowing about it.

Yuri Lowenthal and Dave Wittenberg, the English voices of Sasuke and Kakashi, are among the guests that'll be there. ^_^ In addition to that, we'll have Naruto 2 and 3 gaming tournaments and a two-hour Naruto panel.

I'll be cosplaying Hayate and Shikamaru there like I usually do at cons; anyone else from the community planning on attending?

Just thought this was interesting. From Anime Insider:

Highlights of Naruto's performance vs. the same time period over the last four weeks on Cartoon Network include the following:

Tweens 9-14 delivery (572,000) increased by 20% and ratings (2.3) by 21%.
Kids 6-11 delivery (575,000) expanded by 15% and ratings (2.4) by 14%.
Tween boys 9-14 delivery (443,000) and ratings (3.5) both surged by 25%.
Boys 6-11 delivery (432,000) jumped by 16% and ratings (3.5) by 17%.

The Saturday night replay of Naruto (10 p.m.) was the highest-rated program of the week on Cartoon Network with tweens 9-14 (2.8/700,000) and tween boys 9-14 (4.7/594,000).

It's especially interesting that the 10:00 replay had more "tween" viewers than the 9:00 showing.

While this community isn't quite up and running yet, I figured I might as well make a 'welcome' post.

So.. Welcome!

dub_academy branched off from the chuunin community (which is constantly filled with spoilers). With the Naruto anime coming to Cartoon Network this fall, we decided a second community needed to come about. This community is aimed at those who will be keeping up to speed with the episodes airing on Cartoon Network and/or reading the Naruto manga volumes released by Viz.

Hopefully our community will offer a much safer environment for those of you not wishing to be spoiled by the most current (in Japan) episodes and chapters.
